Snow and ice melting systems for bridge ties

Bridge cables are the key stress components of cable-stayed bridges and suspension bridges, and their health status is directly related to the overall safety of bridges. In winter, snow and ice not only increase the dead weight of the cable, but also may cause stress concentration and corrosion, affecting the service life and safety of the bridge. Therefore, timely and effective removal of snow and ice on the cable is an important measure to ensure the safe operation of the bridge.

    ► Composed of a snow-melting and ice-melting system

The main components of the snow melting and ice melting system: electric heat tracing control box, special electric heat tracing for snow melting, ice and snow sensor controller, power junction box, terminal junction box, special card for snow melting, weather-resistant fixing glue, fixed protection plate, snow melting fixed cable tie, etc.

    System Advantages:

    1. Cost-effective: The special electric heat trace designed and selected by our company for snow melting has a long service life, low maintenance rate and high heat transfer rate. The advantages of YATALO's special electric heat trace for snow melting: anti-aging material, long service life, low maintenance costs, low power consumption for long-term operation, and high heat conversion rate. We pay attention to the quality of each single product and the professional quality of system integration products, so as to achieve the effect of reducing costs and increasing efficiency in the real sense.

    2. Safety guarantee: The main performance items of YATALO electric heating product manufacturing standards meet the GB/T19835-2015 standard, and the product materials are made of high-quality materials to ensure that the performance of electric heat tracing meets the standards, with good thermal stability, uniform heating temperature, heating temperature is within the standard range, will not overheat or short circuit lead to heat tracing combustion or burning, long service life, low attenuation of power meter, and high cost of replacement cycle due to short life.

    ► How it works

A snow and ice melting system typically consists of an electric heat tracing, a temperature sensor, an electric heat tracing temperature control box, and a power supply. Electric heat tracings are arranged along the cable and provide heat by means of electric heating. The temperature sensor monitors the temperature of the cable surface in real time and feeds the data back to the control unit. The control unit automatically adjusts the heating power according to the set temperature range to maintain the proper temperature of the cable surface.

    ►Construction and installation

    1. Construction preparation and process planning

Detailed preparation and process planning are required before construction begins. This includes an assessment of the site environment, the preparation of the required materials and tools, and the training of construction personnel. Proper process planning can ensure that construction runs smoothly and avoids unnecessary delays and increased costs.

    2. Detailed explanation of the installation steps

There are certain steps to follow when installing a snow melting and ice melting system. First of all, clean the surface of the cable to ensure that there is no oil and impurities; Then lay the heating elements according to the design drawings, taking care to maintain the appropriate spacing; Next, install insulation materials to ensure good sealing; Finally, the temperature sensor and control unit are connected and commissioned. Each step needs to be carried out in strict accordance with operating procedures to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of the system.

    3. Key points of quality control

Quality control is a crucial part of the entire construction process. The quality of the materials needs to be checked regularly, the construction process supervised, and the finished system rigorously tested. Only through comprehensive quality control can the long-term stable operation of the system be ensured.

    4. Acceptance criteria and procedures

After the installation is completed, the acceptance of the system needs to be carried out. Acceptance criteria include aspects such as system integrity, safety, functionality, etc. The acceptance process should include steps such as visual inspection, performance testing, and safety assessment. Only systems that meet all acceptance criteria can be put into service.
